SPELLING TESTS ARE EVERY FRIDAY,
IF THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY THE TEST WILL BE ON THURSDAY.

It is each student's responsibility to carefully print
their list words into their planner on Monday,
they are given class time to do this Monday morning.
If they have forgotten their planner,
printing the words into it will be homework Monday night.

This year we are starting by reviewing the most commonly used words in the English language.
These 100 words make up 1/2 of all written material.
Knowing how to spell these words will make writing less frustrating for students.
We will be doing 10 words a week for the month of September, to help us get back into routine.

Classroom Spelling Routine


Monday
Pick up new spelling word list and put your name on it.
Carefully copy words into your planner, starting at 5.
Draw a line between the list words and the bonus words.
Correct a buddy's planner ~ use a blue pencil crayon.
Any mistakes are corrected and written correctly 10 times.
Mrs. Rice checks planners - mistakes redone correctly 25x and buddy who missed it 10x.
Put Spelling word list in front pocket of your planner.
Study at home with the given words.
In planner, highlight the list words you find tricky while you are studying.

Tuesday
Carefully and neatly copy list words onto first column of your Spelling Folder Work.
Correct a buddy's folder ~ use a blue pencil crayon.
Mistakes are corrected in folder and then written correctly 10 times on back of page.
Work on this week's workbook lesson, first 2 pages.
Study at Home.

Wednesday
Finish Workbook Lesson.
Study words at Home, discuss words you have seen this week that fit your pattern.

Thursday
Finish work in Spelling Folder - Look, Say, Cover, Print & Check.
When you check your work ~ use a blue pencil crayon.
Study any words that fit your pattern at home.

Friday
Quiz a partner for 5 minutes, like a spelling bee.
TEST on this week's spelling list words






 Reaching a developmental level in spelling means the student understands
the meaning of the word and is and is able to use/spell them independently on
the spelling test and in their everyday writing.
