“The more love, support, caring and adult contacts a child has, the more likely he or she is to grow up healthy.”

All kids need SUPPORT and there are many different ways to show it.  The following are just some simple but effective examples:

·       Hold your baby often and respond to needs as they present themselves
·       Encourage your child as he/she learns new skills
·       Get down to your child’s eye level when talking to them
·       Provide opportunities to connect to other adult role models
·       Be positive
·       Be willing to answer questions from your child with honesty
·       Seek their input into decision that affect them
·       Show genuine excitement for your child’s interests
·       Have at least one meal together as a family
·       Find activities you can do and share together
·       No matter how old they are, continue to show affection for your child
·       Be honest about your thoughts and feelings
·       Ask caring questions
·       Be considerate for your child’s opinion or feelings
·       Genuinely listen to what they have to say, even if you aren’t thrilled with what they are saying.
